h.o.t is a five-member boy group, formed under sm entertainment. they debuted september 7, 1996 with the first promoted track "decendents of warriors". this song ended up being banned from charts and music shows (?) because of plagiarism alegations. they then promoted the track "candy", this song garnered lots of sucess around christmas time.

they then came back with another album on july 5, 1997 named "wolf & sheep" with the first promoted track being named the same. this album was alot brighter (?) than their first one, with most of the photography taken in california and the heavy use of graffiti. the song wolf and sheep was also banned from music shows for the "violent" choreography. they rebound with a song named "full of happiness". similar to the first album, the softer song was more commercially sucessful.

in 1998 on september 1 they came back with their third album, "resurrection". the first promoted track was "line up!", this song had a good run until the mtv awards in 1999 (?) when they won "international viewers choice" and line up was played. the song had ended up being plagarized from rage against the machines "killing in the name". fans of the band saw this and werent too kind (wont be the first instance of h.o.t being disliked by alternitive comunities..), a member of rage against the machines allegedy was talking about the situation. the second promoted track was "hope" which was written and produced by one of the members, kangta. this song had no controversies attached (that i know of..) and is usually used as a theme song of sorts for sm entertainment.

september 1, 1999 their fourth album "i-yah!", was released. this album featured a new look from h.o.t, their fashion was edgier and sharper (?) than the past three albums. the first promoted track has the same name as the album. iyah was significantly different than their prior work, the song is about irrisponsibilty in childcare jobs. the song specifically targets the "sealand youth training center(?)" fire incident. in summary it was a camp for younger kids that ended up catching fire because the adults didnt check for fire hazards before leaving the kids unattended. this incident devastated the families and friends involved but didnt get much media coverage, so yoo youngjin (ill factcheck later) wrote about it. the next promoted track on the album was "git it up!" which similar to iyah, had its english lyrics censored on music shows,

during the start of 2000, h.o.t continued branching out to china. they released chinese versions of their albums late 1999, but in 2000 they held the first kpop concert in china. the concert had about 10,000 people watching with it being held in the "beijing certified stadium". they gathered mass sucess in china, with chinese youth even imitating their hair from iyah,,.

nearing the end of 2000, they released their fifth album, "outside castle" on october 2 (?). the first promoted track was also named outside castle and it's the first and only h.o.t title track to be written and produced by one of the members of the group rather than yoo youngjin or another producer. the rest of the tracks on this album are also written by the members. the next year after, 2001, members jaewon, tony and woohyuk had left sm mid year likely leading to their disbandment.
